Keith it feels like we are fighting the maybe-availability of Persian Gulf oil.  The Strait of Hormuz was open for many years, now it is maybe-open sorta closed, depending on how you look at it.  I call it Schoedinger’s Strait.

 

If that strait is open that permanently, then low cost oil kills every alternative energy scheme.  If it is closed permanently, alternative energy ideas get traction.  

 

But in its maybe-open state, the alternatives face a funding challenge even while energy is expensive.  Investors don’t want to pour money into alternatives given the risk that the current POTUS is right: Iran will eventually get hungry enough to devour its warriors and its leadership, open the strait.  Then the bottom falls out of the price of energy, and our investments are screwed.  We have seen this movie before.

 

Until we can be more sure of the state of Schroedinger’s Strait, alternative energy funding will struggle.
