OK we have the answer: Fay is spinning down.  It will go to a tropical
depression any time now, with its central pressure up to 1008 mb and rising,
sustained winds down to 35 knots.

 

So no first hurricane likely in the next few days.  Three days from now,
2026 will be a 2 sigma weather year.
