It's easy to think that America has two elite parties these days: 
the Democratic elite on the left and the Republican elite on the right.

The Democrats pander to the economic interests of the middle class, 
and the Republicans pander to the cultural prejudices of the middle class.

Both elite parties ignore the lower class because they don't vote, and 
neither party seems to care about the alienation of those who don't participate.
