Culmination of many things, but the biggest contributors were:

a) reading Heinlein SF
b) being in the military
c) running my own business and trying to sell a product in a market
tightly regulated by building, electrical and fire codes, heavily
subsidized and market distorted by inanely implemented government
programs, as well as trying to sell a new technology to a government
that did not think of it themselves.
d) fighting the Seattle Light Rail Project
e) being treated as a threat to national security by one of the major
political parties and its last presidential administration...
