Veeco / Digital Instruments has had automated tip replacement for a number
of years now on fully automated AFMs used by all of the top ten
semiconductor manufacturers and many more. A different tip type, or a
replacement for a damaged tip, is automatically selected from a cassette,
aligned, tuned and put into operation.

See the Veeco web site for more: (Sorry for the long URLs.)
