If you have good health, spare time, some sort of tools and open ground,
sure. But then if you have all those things, you should have no trouble
reaching civilization under your own power. If you have trouble, it's
presumably due to adverse circumstances such as a broken leg, hypothermia or
being in a forest, any one of which would make it impractical to construct a
large sign.

Also remember that a random patch of land is photographed at high resolution
only at very rare intervals.
