Randall's answer must so *obviously* be "yes" that I can't begin to 
understand how anyone can deny it (as I've been saying here for more 
than a decade). But given that John Clark and others are so insistent 
that confirming this obvious point requires one to assert the reality 
of a soul (whatever that would be), I find myself driven toward 
considering that possibility. It would be amusing if some day I find 
that I have to thank John and the others for hounding me against my 
will--but with dog's grace, no doubt--into that dualistic 
metaphysical position.
