Thank you for the input. I actually found exactly this kind of setup
here: http://blogs.howstuffworks.com/2009/12/02/a-new-way-to-build-hybrid-vehicles-how-the-capstone-microturbine-car-works/.

And it's not even new...
The turbine doesn't move the car, it just recharges the batteries. I
allways thought that it could be a good idea.
500 miles of autonomy seems very nice.
