Take Look to Windward. I am inclined by all mean to feel sympathetic with
the tragic position of Culture's adversaries -  whose stance btw has nothing
especially anti-tech - even though they are presented in the worst possible
light.

Conversely, take Stross's Accelerando. How should we condone the incredibly
parochial hostility to what is cavalierly defined the Vile Offspring which
is expressed in the last part of the book?
