Notice that the 3.0 alpha browser is much faster, and has dispensed
with Vidalia, a source of confusion for some people. There are 
known bugs, see https://blog.torproject.org/blog/announcing-tor-browser-bundle-30alpha1

Yes, it does. You can see it for yourself, if you make a test search
over the .onion address versus the built-in DuckDuckGo search provider. 
The results for the search query are also served over the hidden service.
