It's manual, so you can get it wrong--like the Spike quote you attributed
to me. The attribution is at the end of the quote, so one has to read the
whole thing to see that it's a quote. It's not a quoting format used by
anyone else here.

Maybe you are. If you really think other people here are doing that, you're
wrong. What you're doing sort of works, but it isn't ideal, which is why I
tried to take the time to explain why and how to do it right. If you just
don't care or prefer your way or whatever, then fine, continue doing what
you're doing. But if you really can't see the differences between your way
and the standard way, well, then you are being dense.

You use Gmail, so it's automatically using the standard quoting method.
You're having to manual undo that and redo it your way. For what benefit?
