That's a misleading statement.
Qualitatively, the TTAPS studies were correct. Quantitatively, the
models improved as the data and the dimensionality and the grid resolution
on the models improved. (I don't think that the original computer
models were 3D, for example.)
to sum up:
Yes, the initial predictions were probably wrong.
Yes, the physics was/is probably right.
