Bulk mining of platinum-group metals, to be shipped
down to Earth for resale on the commodity market.
Grossly inefficient compared to options that become
available once techniques are refined and there exists
a market for delivering stuff to orbit.  OTOH, can pay
for an asteroid mining operation (and then some) before
either of those two things happen, and lays the
groundwork for those two things to subsequently happen.
