I actually owned one of the devices! Paying $200 or so
for it, back when that was real money.
Perhaps we should, following a hint from Rafal, just use
"uffect" in place of those two words people hopelessly
confuse (mostly either because they're too lazy or, like
John Clark, suffer from congenital stubbornness). But
I'm sure that all the traditionalists like Damien would
just have a cow at this neologism.
