[ExI] scifi search

I stopped reading fantasy (except for Terry Pratchett) and scifi about 1980
or so, and took it up again very recently.  Mostly I have depended on
Amazon ('people who bought this book also bought...') for other
suggestions.  Then I branched out to winners of Hugos, Nebulas, etc.

Then I found allreaders.com where they have a search engine where you put
in your preferences for plot, characters, writing style and so forth and
then you get a list of books.

I'd like to know if there are other such search engines you know of.  Also,
is there a reverse engine?  That is, you put in the book's title and you
get the characteristics of the book, like war or war, magic or no magic,
etc.

I can state with  authority (Spike's) that there are several scifi readers
on this list, and so I am asking you if you can answer the above questions.
