They won’t let the students do fun politically incorrect things like this anymore.  The middle school STEM Fair people specify no experiments with beasts of any kind, no fleas, no goldfish, nothing that has a face.  It isn’t clear to me that a snail has a face, but it could be argued that it does.  The eyeballs are out there on… proboscis of some kind, don’t know what you call them, but they would say it is a no-go.  OK how about an earthworm?  It isn’t clear that has a face.  But fleas, no go.
