Well, there's that!

I still would like to see specific clarity for the individual's right to control his or her own body (which would protect the right to abortion, and for adults to change gender or cut off their own limbs, or become cyborgs, or to refuse vaccines or medicines); I think we are ready for such to be added to the Bill of Rights immediately.

Longer term, we need it clarified that one has the right to one's own thoughts, believes and cognition, inside their natal body... or perhaps a new one... which that opens many a new can of worms!

For instance, if you upload your mind to a virtual world, does the company that owns that world have the right to alter your cognition, just because they "own" the world and the physical substrate of your new mind?

If You 1.0 (flesh) and You 2.0 (upload) both continue to exist, does 2.0 now have independent rights or dependent rights upon 1.0 -- or someone else?

I think it's great to use thought experiments to think that through but until we know the real technology, I doubt that we'll know how to frame the law to prevent it from being abused.
