*You've got it backwards. The **Democratic minority (55-45) working
together, can’t get the majority party to reopen government. All the
Republicans need to do is change the provisions in the homoeroticly named
"Big Beautiful Bill" that would cause millions of Americans to lose their
health insurance. How many millions? I asked Claude that and this is what
he she or it said: *

Based on the available information, the Congressional Budget Office
estimates that the One Big Beautiful Bill Act will result in *1**6 million
more uninsured Americans by 2034 *

   - 7.8 million more uninsured from Medicaid changes
   - 3.1 million more uninsured from provisions affecting the ACA
   Marketplaces
   - 900,000 more uninsured from codifying Trump Administration marketplace
   rules
   - 4.2 million more uninsured if enhanced premium tax credits expire at
   the end of 2025

To put this in percentage terms: the U.S. currently has approximately 330
million people, so 16 million represents roughly *4-5% of the total U.S.
population* who would lose coverage by 2034.
