*Gödel and Turing showed that although there are an infinite number of
things that are unknowable there are also an infinite number of things that
are knowable, although not necessarily by us. We've been trying for over a
century to find a quantum theory of gravity but have been unsuccessful.
Perhaps our brains are just too small to figure it out, but an AI's brain
can be vastly larger and faster. And until the 1990s we didn't know what we
didn't know, and we still don't know what Dark Matter or Dark Energy are,
and they count for 95% of all the stuff in the universe. So AI's will never
run out of new things to think about, but what they will ultimately decide
to do I have no idea; I can't even predict what people will ultimately
decide to do with their lives, and they're vastly simpler than AIs. *
